Dusklight v2.0 is here
Dusklight 2.0 is available now!
We’ve put in a lot of effort these last few months to bring you a major update.
Mod system and mod browser
We put a lot of time into designing and implementing our modding API in a way that would be easy for both experienced and new modders alike to jump into. We support native C++ mods with hooks for powerful modding capabilities, and Luau-based mods for simpler use cases. Asset replacement can be done without any custom code! Check out our modding guide to read more and get started.
For everyone else, we have a built-in mod browser! Mod creators can upload their mods onto our mod catalog, where they can be downloaded either in-game or from our mods website. Updating mods can also happen entirely in-game!
For iOS users: native mods are supported on iOS, but need to be bundled with the app when installing. Right now, the in-game mod browser will only show mods without native code. We are working on a way to download a bundled .ipa from the mod website for easy installation. Check back soon!
Dusklight Randomizer
Built on the new modding API, we’ve brought the Randomizer experience to Dusklight! Dusklight Randomizer is bundled with v2. You can customize your randomizer settings and manage your generated seeds all within the game!
Thanks to the mod system, randomizer updates will occur separately and more frequently than Dusklight updates. The mod manager will let you know when new randomizer updates are available.
Note: Wii discs may encounter some compatibility issues. We will continue to look into this.
Expanded version support
We now support Japanese GameCube discs, as well as Wii version discs! This means you can now run Dusklight using any retail GameCube or Wii disc (except for the Korean Wii release, for now). We hope this opens up opportunities for more people to enjoy Dusklight!
Note: Wii disc support doesn’t include all Wii-specific features, such as motion controls. Currently, using a Wii disc will look and behave just like the GameCube versions. We may look into support for Wii controls and other Wii exclusive features in the future.
General improvements and polish
We’ve made many improvements to the overall state of Dusklight in just about every aspect. Performance has been dramatically improved across the board. Interpolation has been revamped and added in many missing places. Menus have been carefully reworked with variable delta time, making them smooth as butter at any framerate. 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound audio is now supported. More quality of life options, and a whole lot of bug fixes.
It’s been a long time coming, and we hope it’s worth the wait! This isn’t the end however; we still have more plans for the future. We hope you’ll continue having fun with Dusklight and looking forward to future updates!
